Baggage / Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment includes bicycles, skis (water or snow), diving equipment, golf clubs, surfboards, delta wings, and hang gliding equipment.

It is advisable for this equipment to be properly crated in a suitable bag or a box. As a minimum requirement, prominent parts of this equipment shall be removed and protected to avoid damaging other pieces of luggage.

Bicycle wheels, balls or any other inflatable item shall be deflated before check-in.

This equipment is subject to an additional fee, for they are not included in the allowance. As an exception, golf clubs are included in the luggage allowance only in national regular flights, and shall be weighted together with the normal luggage. Only in the case of excess luggage, a fee shall be applied for the extra kilos. This fee shall depend of the type of flight.

Diving equipment include cylinders, which shall be emptied before check in and carried in the cargo compartment of the aircraft.

The number of articles of sporting equipment that can be accepted is always subject to the space and weight available in the aircraft hold once the rest of the baggage allowance for other passengers has been loaded. The equipment will be carried with a limit of liability on Air Europa’s part in the event of loss or damage during the flight.
                       
Charges for transport on scheduled flights (except to/from USA): Sports equipment on scheduled flights forms part of the normal baggage allowance and must be weighed along with the rest of the passenger’s luggage. Only in the event that the baggage exceeds the allowance must the excess kilos be paid at the rate valid for the route in question.

Charges for transport on scheduled flights (to/from USA):
On scheduled flights to/from USA the following cases for transporting sports equipment are contemplated:

- Ski equipment (water or snow): consisting of a pair of skis, a set of poles, or a snowboard and a pair of boots, or a pair of standard water skis or a slalom water ski. In these cases the charge for carrying this equipment if it exceeds the passenger’s baggage allowance will be: 33% of the charge that is applicable for excess baggage. 
                                             
- Golf equipment: consisting of not more than 1 bag of golf clubs that may also include a pair of shoes. In this case the charge for carrying this equipment will be 50% of the charge that is applicable for excess baggage.

Sports equipment forms part of the passenger’s baggage allowance. In the event that this allowance is exceeded, the excess will be charged at excess baggage rates.
